I've tried to install Windows Vista Beta 2 on a computer already running Windows XP Home. I've tried the upgrade and the fresh install options, but the installation procedure won't make it past 'Copying Windows Files (95%)...' I have a valid 32-bit ISO burned to DVD for the install. It starts the install when the computer is booting up or when run from within Windows XP. The computer is running an Intel DG1000 motherboard with a Celeron D 5xx 3.0GHz processor and 1.2GB DDR Ram. Here's the error message I receive: "An error occurred while copying Setup files onto your local machine. Error code is [80070017]."

Vista Beta 2 install over Windows XP
If you have a SATA hard drive you may need to provide the driver during the initial setup. Use the "Load Drivers" option. Vista will accept a floppy, cd, or thumb drive when you indicate the location of the driver.

I have seen several other people have the same problem. We have tried to narrow it down to perhaps a specific media or burner type but have found no common factor yet. So far the only thing that seems to work for some is burning the ISO at a slower speed. I had no error of that kind and I did an upgrade install over my current XP version without any problems. One other guy that had the error had almost identical hardware as mine and the only thing he did different was he had a different harddrive and different DVD media. He will try new media and I will update you with our results.

I have a SATA drive that i'm installing it to, but the drive doesn't require any drivers. It's an internal SATA drive on a board capable of holding 4 SATA drives and 4 IDE drives.

I resolved this error by ensuring that I burned the dvd on the same drive I used to run the setup from. Apparently there was some sort of allignment variance between the two drives I used the first time.

I finally got it resolved. Had to burn at a speed of 2x. First time I've had to manually set the burn speed. Also, the computer it is now installed on has the following configuration:
Intel D101GGCL Socket 775 Motherboard Intel Celeron 341 2.93GHz 533FSB Socket 775 Spire SP512S7 90mm Sleeve CPU coling fan with heatsink WD Caviar 250 GB SATA HD 7200/8MB/SATA-150 WD Caviar 300 GB SATA HD 7200/8MB/SATA-150 Powercolor Radeon X300se PCIe Supporting 256MB Ultra 512MB PC2700 DDR 333MHz with Heat Shield (x2) LITE-ON Black ATAPI/E-IDE DVD-ROM Drive Model SOHD-16P9SV

Try This: Burn the ISO Image in 1X or 2X of Speed / Change the DVD+ To DVD- / If don't works try to download a new Image, Goodlook
